Gait Training

Gait Training

Optimizing your gait will help your posture, your strength, your control, and your efficiency and endurance.

What Is Gait Training?

Gait training means training how you walk. We all walk in our own unique way. Gait changes from our childhood to teen years, throughout pregnancy, post injury, during rehab from an injury, post-surgery, or as a result of illness or disease. Watching you walk gives me tons of information to help me help you. Optimizing your gait will help your posture, your strength, your control, and your efficiency and endurance.

Common questions:

Do you have to watch me walk?

This question is usually from people that are limping, losing their balance, or in need of a cane or walker but do not want to use one. Sometimes after just a few feet of walking I can see that you have obvious gait deficits. I see that you are limping. I see that you are sliding along your hallway wall. I see that you are trying to not make it noticeable as you grab onto furniture. I may make you catwalk for me. Your gait is like your fingerprint- unique to you!
